Arbiter responsabilities
1. Game Rules: The referee must have a good understanding of the chess rules and make sure everyone follows them. This includes knowing how to move the pieces correctly, managing the time, and respecting the general rules.
2. Problem Solving: If there are disagreements during a game, the referee helps solve the problems based on the rules. For instance, if someone makes an incorrect move or if there's a disagreement about a capture.
3. Time Monitoring: The referee keeps an eye on the time to ensure players stay within the time limits. This prevents disputes related to time.
4. Checking Score Sheets: Referees check the move notations to ensure everything is correctly recorded, and the game progresses accurately.
5. Handling Issues: If someone doesn't play properly or doesn't follow the tournament rules, the referee takes actions like giving a warning or penalty, and in extreme cases, even disqualifying if necessary.
6. Start and Finish of Games: The referee starts the games on time and ensures they end correctly, whether by resignation, checkmate, or a draw.
7. Fair Play and Cheating: The referee makes sure everyone plays honestly and can check if someone is cheating by looking at their personal belongings.
8. Before the Tournament: Before the tournament begins, the referee can organize a meeting to explain the rules and expectations to everyone.
