Judit Podgár

Judit Polgár, a renowned Hungarian chess player, is considered one of the greatest female players of all time. Born on July 23, 1976, in Budapest, Hungary, she gained international fame for her exceptional chess skills from a young age.

Her remarkable journey began in a chess-loving family. Her parents, László and Klára Polgár, are famous for adopting an innovative educational method, raising their three daughters, Susan, Sofia, and Judit, in an environment centered around chess.

Judit Polgár made a significant impact on the chess community early in her life. She set a new record by becoming the youngest female player to achieve the title of International Grandmaster at the age of 15, surpassing the previous achievement of Bobby Fischer. She has also won numerous prestigious tournaments and reached the eighth position in the world rankings. Moreover, one of her most notable accomplishments was her victory over Garry Kasparov, the former world champion, in 2002. This victory elevated her to the status of the first woman to defeat a reigning world champion in a classical game.

Beyond her chess-playing career, Judit Polgár is also a accomplished author and ambassador of chess. She has authored several books on chess and continues to promote the game as an educational and intellectual development tool.
